Aristida purpurea

Fine native threeawn with purple awns that catch light in dry prairies. Tough shortgrass for the thinnest Hill Country soils and limestone.

Landscape use

Prairie mixes, restoration seedings, dry slopes, and native meadow fillers.

Full sun, very low water. No fertilizer. Leave seed for wildlife or cut after set. Excellent in lean, neglected sites.
